2021 Championship Set to Take Place at Lake Murray, SC
SAN ANTONIO, TX (April 3, 2020) – The BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops is the longest-running collegiate bass fishing tournament in the history of the sport. Designed to give student anglers a platform to fellowship and compete on a national stage, the Association of Collegiate Anglers’ premier event has been held on some of the best bass fishing lakes in the country. For the 2021 edition of this great tournament, the Championship will be contested on Lake Murray in South Carolina May 26-27.
During Championship Week, the ACA and fishing industry roll out the red carpet for the anglers who qualify for the year-end event. Anglers will be treated like royalty as they receive multiple meals, meet and greet opportunities with industry leaders, as well as receive loads of products from some of the best brands in the business. All of this will culminate with two full days of fishing where one lucky team will be crowned National Champions, and a winner will also be crowned in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.
“We are excited to host the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series at Lake Murray for this prestigious event,“ said Miriam Atria, President/CEO of Capital City/Lake Murray Country RTB. “Our community is uniquely qualified to host these events at our world-class fishery. It is vital to the future of the fishing industry and to outdoor recreation to offer these types of events to students to ensure the growth of the industry.”
Also new to the ACA lineup is the 2020 Summer Slam, also set to take place on Lake Murray, June 11-12, 2020. This will mark the first time that the ACA has hosted an event at this storied fishery. Situated just outside of Columbia, SC, this pristine body of water is known for its abundance of boat docks, blueback herring, and quality largemouth & spotted bass. Lake Murray has played host to some of the most prestigious events in the sport and will provide a fantastic stage for college fishing’s best young anglers to duke it out for a National Championship and the Summer Slam.
“We’re excited to have Lake Murray host the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship in 2021 and the Summer Slam in 2020 as we begin to expand our collegiate series with more opportunities and locations. Lake Murray has a long and storied history in the world of bass fishing, and it will provide a wide range of fishing opportunities for collegiate anglers who travel from across the nation to compete there,” said Wade Middleton, Director of Association of Collegiate Anglers and President of CarecoTV.
This won’t be the last key announcement tied to this location and others in the near future. New for the 2020-2021 season, the Association of Collegiate Anglers will be introducing new qualification criteria for the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops. The new criteria will only heighten the stakes, and cultivate an even more competitive environment at each and every event. Along with that, no school will be limited to the number of boats they can send, so long as each team meets one of the qualifying criteria. Stay tuned for more information regarding qualifications for the 2021 Championship over the course of the next several weeks.
