Montevallo Anglers’ 1st and 2nd Place Finishes Help to Extend Lead in the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia
University of North Alabama remains in 2nd, LSU-Shreveport moves up to 3rd
SAN ANTONIO, TX (March 6, 2025) – The Association of Collegiate Anglers releases the latest points update to the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. This updated standings reflects the results and points awarded to the latest Bassmaster College Series event at Smith Lake, as well as numerous local School-Run/Other sanctioned tournaments. Just over two months remain in college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system as the final standings will be released following the conclusion of the season at the end of May.
In the latest points update to the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, the University of Montevallo is in 1st place with 21,250 points. The University of North Alabama holds onto 2nd place, and LSU-Shreveport moves up one spot to be ranked 3rd.
Stephen F. Austin State University is the only team to move up into the Top 25 during this points update, as they were previously ranked 26th.

6) McKendree University – Previously Ranked 7th
8) Lander University – Previously ranked 10th

13) Emmanuel College – Previously ranked 16th

For the second rankings reveal in a row, the University of Montevallo finds itself in the number one spot. After the previous update, Montevallo led 2nd place by 710 points. Montevallo now has a 3,700 point lead over 2nd ranked UNA.
This increase in margin is attributed primarily to a very strong showing by Montevallo anglers at the most recent Bassmaster College Series event. At Smith Lake, Montevallo’s two highest placing teams finished in 1st and 2nd. Daylon Milam & James Dubose finished in 1st, and Brody Robison & Peyton Sorrow placed 2nd. Those two top finishes earned the team a total of 2,490 points. Having won the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia each of the last four seasons (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024), Montevallo is seeking to win its fifth consecutive title.
