AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open Set for October 14-15 at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, AR
SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 2, 2023) – In less than two weeks, the Association of Collegiate Anglers will host its second event of the season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. The no-entry-fee, nationally televised, double points AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open will be contested at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, AR. Scheduled to be contested on October 14-15, the two-day, traditional five bass limit format event will pay out over $20,000 in prizes and contingencies, as well as award double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.

The AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is the second of three regular-season major events on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. This 2023-24 season will culminate with the Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops at Pickwick Lake in May of 2024.
Hundreds of the nation’s top collegiate anglers, representing some of the top-ranked schools in collegiate bass fishing, will be on hand to compete for over $20,000 in prizes and contingencies. The no-entry-fee AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open will pay out the Top 20 places in the final standings, several exact places, and the Overall Big Bass. The Top 10 finishing angler pairings at the 2023 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open automatically qualify to compete in the 2024 Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops. These qualified angler pairing entries must compete as the same angler pairing that competed at the 2023 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open.
The AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open will also be an important event to help define the race for the 2023-24 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. Two-time title winner McKendree University currently holds the top spot for college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system. First place will receive 1,750 points, and schools will be eligible to earn points for their two highest-finishing teams inside of the Top 150 of the final tournament standings.
