AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open Set to Start Tomorrow Featuring Elite Field
RUSSELLVILLE, AR (October 7, 2022) – The 2022 AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is set to begin tomorrow morning at Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, AR. Over 220 of the nation’s top collegiate bass fishing teams will compete for two days in hopes of claiming their share of more than $20,000 in prizes & contingencies, as well as double points to count towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. The AFTCO Collegiate Bass Open is a nationally televised, no-entry-fee event that marks the second event of the season on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series.
Lake Dardanelle is in prime fall form leading up this weekend’s event. The Arkansas River fishery offers a vast playing field for anglers from across the country to go out and fish their strengths. With cover ranging from lily pads, wood, and rock, there is a wide variety of structure for the field to target. This Association of Collegiate Anglers major event will be a crucial event in the race for Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. 1st place will receive 1,750 points with point increments decreasing by 10 down to 150th. Schools will be able to earn points for their two highest finishing teams inside of the Top 150.

Many of the nation’s top teams have a chance to separate themselves from the rest of the pack at this double points event. Last year, schools like Montevallo and McKendree placed multiple teams in the Top 20 and capitalized on the valuable double points opportunity. Point totals for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia will be updated following the conclusion of the event.
