Berkley Baits for Fall Fishing at Kentucky Lake
SAN ANTONIO, TX (September 1, 2022) – Kentucky Lake will be the backdrop of the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley, the first Association of Collegiate Anglers event of the 2022-23 season. The tournament was initially scheduled for the spring of 2022, but due to snow in the area it was moved to the fall and will be held in Paris, TN on September 17-18.
This event has long been a favorite on the college fishing series and will feature a variety of prizes, points towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, and weigh-in every two hours. One final twist includes all of the college anglers only using Berkley baits on Day 2 of tournament competition. In this article, we will highlight several Berkley baits that could be players at Kentucky Lake in just a few weeks.

Back in 2020, the ACA contested this particular event during the month of September. This marked the first time in which the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley had been held during the fall of the year. Dalton Kelly from School of the Year contender Murray State University won the event with a largemouth bass weighing 5.53 pounds that he caught on the Berkley Choppo.
As water temperatures start to cool, baitfish begin to move into the backs of the creeks and the bass will be following close behind. Shad imitating baits will play a key factor in this event, whether it be early in the mornings or throughout the day. Working these baits along rock banks or main lake bars are popular patterns on Kentucky Lake this time of the year. Here is a list of other shad imitating baits from Berkley that could produce the tournament winning bite:
Crankbaits will be another great option to throw during the upcoming Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley. Back in 2020, anglers found a good bit of success working crankbaits along slow tapering points, rocky banks, and around other various cover. Berkley offers an extensive line of crankbaits that will be effective in the fall fishing conditions. Here is a list of those baits:
New at ICAST 2022, Berkley introduced the Slobberknocker bladed jig. Compared to other bladed jigs on the market, the Berkley Slobberknocker features an innovative through-head design that is completely unique to other bladed jigs. After countless hours spent testing on and off the water, Berkley Labs scientists fine-tuned this unique design that not only delivers a consistent vibration but is also perfectly suited to come through heavy cover while staying engaged.
The Berkley Slobberknocker took home the title of “Best Freshwater Hard Lure” in the New Product Showcase at ICAST 2022. To read more about this new bait from Berkley, click here.
Last but not least, we will take a look at soft plastic baits from Berkley. Kentucky Lake offers all three of the afore-mentioned opportunities to drag a worm for big fish. Here are three PowerBait MaxScent baits to have in your tackle box:
- Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Creature Hawg
- Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Hit Worm Magnum
