Pickwick Slam Announcement: Trailering Allowed on Day 1
Florence, AL (April 21, 2023) – The first major no-entry-fee, double points event of the 2023 Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series is set for Pickwick and Wilson Lakes this Saturday and Sunday, April 22nd – 23rd. Over 230 of the best college fishing teams from around the country will be competing for over $20,000 in prizes and contingencies.
After careful consideration regarding the wind/weather situation this coming weekend, and for the safety of all competitors, ACA tournament officials have decided to allow trailering for event takeoff on Saturday, April 23.
All teams competing in the Pickwick Slam presented by Evolution Fishing will be required to go through a mandatory boat check at McFarland Park before driving to the public launch ramp of their choosing on Pickwick or Wilson Lakes. ACA staff will begin administering boat checks starting at 5:00 AM. After checking in, teams may trailer to any public ramp of their choosing and begin launching their boats. At 6:00 AM, teams can leave their launch ramp area to make their way to their first spot. First cast will be at 6:45 AM and fishing must cease (lines out) at 2:45 PM. Anglers may then load their boats and trailer with their day’s catch to return to McFarland Park for weigh-in. Must be checked in with ACA staff member at McFarland Park at the bump tubs with your fish by 4:30 PM to avoid late penalties. All teams, regardless of having fish or not, MUST return to McFarland Park and check out with staff before leaving the lake so we know you are safely off the water.
