Race for the 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia Tightens as Halfway Point Nears
Carson-Newman University remains in 1st, Bethel University holds onto 2nd, and the University of Montevallo moves to 3rd
SAN ANTONIO, TX (October 30, 2024) – The race for the 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia is nearing the halfway mark. The chase began in June this past summer, and will conclude at the end of May in 2025. A total of close to 30 points earning events have been contested, and numerous top teams have amassed over 10,000 total points. This update to the points standings is highlighted by numerous School-Run/Other events, as well as the MLF College Series tournament at Lake Chickamauga.
The Top 2 teams in this latest points update remain unchanged. Carson-Newman places two teams in the Top 25 at Lake Chickamauga to extend its lead over 2ndplace. Bethel University manages two Top 30 finishes at the MLF College Series event to stay steady in 2nd place.
Four-time defending School of the Year title winning University of Montevallo moves up three places to be ranked 3rd. Montevallo earned the most points of any school that competed at Lake Chickamauga. Connor Bell & Nicholas Dumke placed in 2nd, and Miller Dowling & Mason Kornegay took 3rd. The two Top 3 finishes earned Montevallo a total of 2,470 points.
Major movement and impact in the standings for this points update occurred amongst the Top 10. Top ranked Carson-Newman increased its lead over both 2nd and 3rd by roughly 50 points each. Four schools managed to improve their ranking inside of the Top 10. Here is a look at those programs:

4) University of North Alabama – Previously Ranked 7th
5) McKendree University – Previously Ranked 9th
8) Adrian College – Previously Ranked 10th

Two teams managed to move into the Top 25 after previously being ranked on the outside looking in. Emmanuel University moved from 26th to 21st, and Bryan College jumped up to 24th from 33rd.
