Ranger Cup University Challenge to Take Place Tomorrow
San Antonio, TX (January 14, 2020) – In less than 24 hours two lucky teams will compete in a premier, made-for-tv event designed exclusively for college anglers. Cole Floyd & Carter McNeil (Bethel University), and Adam Puckett & Blake Albertson (Murray State) are set to square off in the 2020 Ranger Cup University Challenge. Bragging rights aren’t the only thing on the line, as the winners will take home $2,000 and earn 50 points towards the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.
The Ranger Cup University Challenge is the culmination of the 2019 Ranger Cup University program. This program is open to all college anglers, and is free to sign up. At each Association of College Anglers event, a cash prize is awarded to the highest finishing qualified angler. Floyd & McNeil qualified for this event for their second year in a row as they backed up their 2018 victory at the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops with a win again in 2019. That victory automatically qualified them to compete in the upcoming one day challenge.
“We are excited about this event. This is one that every year we look forward to. We appreciate the partnership, and the ability to team up on this Ranger Cup University fish off,” said Matt Raynor, Marketing Director at Ranger Boats.
Tomorrow’s event will be full of excitement and plenty of fish catches. Competing out of fully rigged Ranger Z519 boats, the anglers will be dueling it out in an every fish counts format event on Fayette County Reservoir in central Texas. Last year’s event saw plenty of fish catches as Adrian College topped Floyd & McNeil from Bethel University. Given the current weather and lake conditions, the event should be setting up for a slugfest again here in 2020.
