SAN ANTONIO, Texas (February 21, 2017) – Registration is now open for the twelfth annual BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Cabela’s. Collegiate anglers that meet the criteria requirements are encouraged to register now for the event. The Championship event will be held for the sixth consecutive year on Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama for a week-long schedule of activities.
Known as one of the largest and most prestigious collegiate bass fishing events in the nation, the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Cabela’s is a title coveted by anglers both nationally and internationally.
“It’s been 12 years since BoatUS first began to support college fishing and it’s exciting to be a continued part of college fishing’s premier event. The unbelievable growth in college fishing since this event started is a testament to how valued programs like the ACA are to youth anglers,” said BoatUS Foundation President Chris Edmonston. “The college-aged anglers continue to impress us all with their competitive spirit and their dedication to conservation. It is also great to see past competitors emerging as the next generation of leaders in the boating and fishing world.”
As one of three double-points Cabela’s School of the Year events, the Cabela’s Collegiate Bass Fishing Series and the Association of Collegiate Anglers are excited to offer collegiate anglers the opportunity to compete on Pickwick Lake for the chance to win thousands of dollars in cash and prizes as well as major points for the most prestigious title in all of college fishing – the Cabela’s School of the Year.
“It’s hard to believe that we’re hosting our 12th BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship Presented by Cabela’s. This event is the one that all college anglers want to win and they’re willing to travel from around the nation to get to Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama. The week-long event is always a highlight of the year for me as well as all the supporters of college fishing,” said Association of Collegiate Anglers Director and President of CarecoTV, Wade Middleton.
