Top Ranked Adrian College Has Commanding Lead in School of the Year Race Entering First ACA Event of the Season
PARIS, TN (September 16, 2022) – The Association of Collegiate Anglers is set to kick off a new season at Kentucky Lake for the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley. As the first ACA double points event of the 2022-23 season in the race for Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia, this weekend’s event will play a key role in shaking up the standings and defining a clearer picture of the teams in contention to finish the season ranked number one. Adrian College enters this weekend in first place, trailed by the University of Montevallo in second and McKendree University in third.
Number one ranked Adrian College has had a very successful month of September as they’ve already earned over 5,700 points. Two Adrian College teams finished in the Top 40 at the Bassmaster College Series National Championship to earn over 3,100 points. Three weeks later at the MLF Northern Regional on Lake Erie, Adrian College notched two Top 5 finishes for and additional 2,470 points. Matthew Davis and Sam Shoemaker finished in first place, and Cole Carr and Paxton Giem placed fourth. A strong showing at the Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley this weekend could cap a historic month of September for Adrian College.
Each of the teams in the Top 10 are registered to compete at Kentucky Lake this weekend and second through tenth are separated by roughly 3,000 points.
First place at this event will earn 1,750 points. Point increments will decrease by 10, with points being awarded all the way down to 150th. Schools will be eligible to earn points for their two biggest fish inside of the Top 150. The maximum potential points a school could earn at this event is 3,490.
The Bass Pro Shops Big Bass Bash presented by Berkley is set to be a monumental event in the race for 2022-23 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia. Next week, following the conclusion of this major event, ACA staff will update the latest points standings.
