Two Months Remain in 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia as Race Tightens

Montevallo remains in 1st place, LSU-Shreveport moves into 2nd, and McKendree University is in 3rd

SAN ANTONIO, TX (March 24, 2025) – The Association of Collegiate Anglers has updated the standings to college fishing’s only all-encompassing National Rankings system following the completion of multiple local and regional events, as well as a MLF College Series Tournament at Grand Lake.

Two months remain in the current season for the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  When those two months end, we will crown a number one team in the nation, we will also acknowledge the Top 25 bass fishing teams in the nation that have earned this recognition on the water.

The University of Montevallo remains in 1st place with a season total of 21,250 points.  LSU-Shreveport climbs one place to be ranked 2nd, and McKendree University jumps three spots up to 3rd.

In this latest points update, four new teams move up into the Top 5 since the previous rankings release.  Along with the moves made by LSUS and McKendree University, Tarleton State University and Wabash Valley College also climbed into the Top 5.  After previously being ranked 7th, Tarleton State moved up to 4th after placing two teams in the Top 30 at Grand Lake.  Wabash Valley College’s two highest-placing teams at Grand Lake finished in 7th and 16th.  The 2,290 points earned by WVC moved them from 10th to 5th.

Drury University earned the most points of any school to compete at the MLF College Series event.  Jacob Longlois & Seth Prather took 2nd and David Derubertis & Curt Ferguson placed 3rd.  Those two Top 3 finishes earned Drury University 2,470 points, which helped the team to move from 14th up to 10th.

The race for 2024-25 Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia continues to tighten as the end of the season nears.  In the previous points update, Montevallo’s lead over then 2nd ranked University of North Alabama was 3,700 points.  After the latest MLF College Series event at Grand Lake, 3,700 is the gap between 1st and 6th.  2nd ranked LSUS now trails 1st place by just 1,910 points.

Top ranked University of Montevallo is in search of its fifth straight title for Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia this season.  3rd ranked McKendree University, and 6th ranked UNA, could become just the second team to win three or more titles if they were to end this season ranked number one.  Bethel University is the only other program currently ranked in the Top 10 to have ever won the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.  Six of the current Top 10 teams are on the quest to win their school’s first-ever title.
